Why choose A-One Au Pairs & Nannies?
As a responsible Agency we cannot stress enough the importance of somebody thinking of coming to the United Kingdom as an Au Pair to make sure it is with a reputable agency.
Please be very careful of internet only based agencies, and people who contact you directly. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW IN THE UNITED KINGDOM TO CHARGE A FEE FOR FINDING A FAMILY FOR AN AU PAIR, THEREFORE PLEASE DO NOT PAY ANY MONEY TO ANY UK BASED AGENCY.

Where can I be placed in the UK as an a Au Pair?
We place Au Pairs throughout the UK, this includes families in Scotland, Wales, etc. We now operate a network of Agencies covering large parts of the country
We can place Au Pairs throughout the year, and expect our Au Pairs to normally commit to stay with their Host Family for a minimum period of 8 months plus. We feel it is important at this stage to point out that coming to the United Kingdom is not a holiday, it’s a way of being in the UK to learn the language, culture and meet new people, and have a new experience. The friendships formed when you are in the UK and the memories you take back with you
can last a life time.
What are the rules which govern Au Pairs?
The Home Office Guidelines set by the UK Government states that an au pair works
25 hours per week for 5 days per week. An au pair must have 2 days free per week.
They do not get a wage, they have pocket money, and the minimum pocket money recommended is £65 per week. The 5 hours a day may be worked just in the morning, or just in the afternoon, or can be split over the day. This depends on the needs of each individual family, and also the hours the au pair needs to go to language school to study the English language.
Most language schools offer lessons to au pairs 2/3 times per week. Normally it's for 2 or 3 hour periods. However different schools offer different times, depending on the location of the school. An au pair will be expected to help with basic housework such as ironing and cleaning as well as helping out with the children, getting them dressed, playing with them, help at bathtimes, mealtimes, etc.
What if I need help during my stay?
We are here to give support to an Au Pair during their stay. We can give advice regarding language schools, holidays, childcare, friends, etc. We try to ensure that every placement is perfect, however we do realize that things can occasionally go wrong and in these circumstances can help the Au Pair to change families without a problem.
Once you are in the United Kingdom, we will telephone you to say ‘hello’ and to see if there is any help you may need. We are here to help throughout your stay. We keep in touch with events and trips organized by our Agency, and we would advise you to visit our website for details of events that we offer for all of our Au Pairs in the United Kingdom.
